It has accepted a 256GB SD card without need for reformatting.
I am very pleased that they have expanded the number of hotkeys from 3 to 10,
this was a feature I requested for the Evo 10, you can now switch not just
between 3 functions but pretty much everything you need to reach on the player
instantly., switching seamlessly through Radio, Daisy, Audio Books, eBooks,
time and date announcements et.
On initial first look the Daisy App is vastly improved over the E10 incarnation
with increased navigation options and far more sensible speed increments. I also
requested this as I am sure did others so it is good that they have listened to
feedback.
Poor first marks are for the lack of an included manual though Jackie has
helpfully sent me through a Quick Start Guide.
The Guide also needs re-writing into more conventional English to aid clarity.
Also the section on Wi-Fi configuration should probably be relocated to earlier
in the guide, perhaps to just after key layout description as I think most
people will need this.
My unit also thought it was in Shanghai and although I was able to change this
by rooting through settings I think it would be more useful for time settings
etc if the unit realised it was in the UK. Once I made this change and set the
time to automatically update through internet the time adjusted correctly.
It would also be useful to populate the Internet Radio Folder with some
stations to get people started. Having sa id that the stations I circulated a
couple of years ago seemed to start without issue and I can repost these if
people need them.
As I say early days for me, it appears that there is now a specialist Audio Book
as well as Daisy app, though I am not sure yet. It was also a feature I
requested to distinguish Audio Books from Music so here is hoping. There is
certainly an Audio Books folder and hotkey function as well as Daisy now.
All in all very promising on early first look, I hope some of the firmware
improvements can be ported back for Evo 10 users.
