[access-uk] Copyright law?

Hi all -
Well, it is a sort of Access question, it's about copyright and music. a
Friend of mine wants to make a short video using some samples of *50's
music, but wonders what the legalities might be? So, if anyone has any
knowledge on this, or can suggest where to look to check out copyright law
in particular for music, then I know she'd be very grateful.
She's not performing, so as such won't be requiring a performing rights
licence, but does intend to use the video as a professional tool.
