Hi Andy

Ah, well, you may be correct, my manual indicated as long as the unit was
on, the iPod or whatever would charge, not necessarily plugged in. But hey, it doesn't matter! I bet you can't wait for tomorrow, even though your first
few hours will be daunting and full of frustrations. But we're here to
help, least I will if I can. I'm still a novice, I haven't got too far so
you'll not be alone!!

Hi Jackie - Thanks for this.

I think from the instructions, you can actually turn the kicker off, and as
long as it is still plugged in, the Nano/iPod will still charge.

My Touch should be here tomorrow--as long as I don't miss the post [Royal
Mail] and have to go to the post-office to collect it <smile> -

Hi Andy

To be honest, because I had a charger when I opened my iPod Touch on
Christmas Day, I didn't need the PC. But there was a fair amount of
charge
already in the Touch, so I reckon you would be best sticking it onto your
PC
and leaving it for a good few hours, then remove it and use the device
until
you run the battery down. Once you do that, charge it again, a pain I
know,
but what most people recommend these days. I do know that it's a lot
slower
charging on a PC than on a charger itself, depending of course on how many
USB ports you are already using and tapping into the PC's resources.

My Nano, for instance, sits in the Kicker in our kitchen. Sometimes I
leave
the docking-station on so the Nano can charge up, and it'll suddenly
announce: "charged" out of the blue and make anyone out there jump out of
their skin!! (smile).

Subject: [access-uk] Charging the iPod touch for the first time

Hi all - The suggested time for charging new devices use to be about 15
hours, does this still stand, and given that I'll be doing the first
charge
of my Touch via USB on my laptop, does this need longer?

Thanks -

Andy
