Sorry, I meant to be rather more constructive as well. Have you thought of taking a look at the recycling list to see if there’s anything around on there or indeed posting to it and asking if anyone has a braille display for sale?

Depends on your budget. The Orbit is OK, but noisy.
I use, but I also sell, the VarioUltra 20 and 40 displays. I love those, they are so quiet as well. They work well on both Android and iOS.
Angie uses the Mantis from Humanware, because it has a QWERTY keyboard.
Depends on what you prefer really.

I’m pretty sure my Braille Edge 40 has died and am eager not to be without a note-taker for too long.
I use my note-taker both as a braille display for the computer and my iPhone as well as a word processor.
What would folk recommend? What about the Orbit?
