Hello David,

I do Alt o and go into the format menu. But I can't find an item called Numbering in there. There's Bullets And Numbering, Auto Format - are either of these what you mean?

to switch it off, alt o and using the arrow keys find numbering and again
cursor to none and hit enter.
That should do it once and for all.

Kind Regards

Hi,

Can anyone tell me exactly where I go to stop Word 2003 automatically
putting numbers in when I've put a couple in but then want to stop? In
other words, how do I switch the automatic numbering feature off?

The feature is quite useful I find. But the current trouble I'm having is - I pressed enter twice because I wanted to start a new paragraph. I expected
Word to leave the line blank and allow me to carry on writing without
continuing the numbers, instead the numbers carried on including one on the
blank line.
