Yes, it is bullets and numbering. When you go in press n for numbering then cursor back and forth until you find none and hit enter. During your serch you will come accross various styles of numbering but persevere until you find none. My instant thought is when you have switched it off, leave it that way and if you need to number anything do it as you go along.
