[access-uk] Re: Announcement: New UK talks list

I'm very much glad about the UK list. I found the global talks list had far too much trafic and alot of it was messages that had nothing to do with talks and people were talking about ringtones and other things that were of no relevence at all, also there was too many discussions about US mobile phone providers. The only reason why I still remained on there was because, unfortunately, that was the only way to find out if new version of talks was out. Sure I could go on to FTP server every week or something, but I really don't wanna do that just to check if new version is available, I hope we will be informed of this on the new list. I think though that I'll still stay subscribed to talks beta list as there's not that much trafic there and hopefully we'll be informed there of new talks versions.

Hi Mark.

I had no idea Graham was planning on settign this up and I'll certainly check it out.

I would on ocasion pop onto the talks list but ack they have their place but I've always found Interntaional VI lists very erm what's the most diplomatic way of putting it...

I'm not sure but I've found the UK lists more specific, more constructive and able to have a bit of banter back and forth even between developers, retailers, and end users.

Personally I think it'll be a welcome refreshment. When I left the old Talks
list it was full of non-stop sniping, and it seemed to me that nothing was
learned or gained by anyone. Not only this, but I guess it'll be nice
concentrating on UK providers offering talks as part of the equation.
Obviously I can't speak for anyone else here, but I found the talksusers.com
list was largely dominated by our friends across the pond. I'm all for
international input, but I think its nice sometimes to have a touch of the
home ground as it were.

Thanks for setting it up ~Graham, and look forward to spotting you on there!

Cheers,

Mark

Hi all

I've set up a UK mailing list to discuss all things related to the talks

screen reader. To subscribe send a blank message with the word subscribe in

the subject line to
talks-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
and then to post drop the word request from the address. Look forward to
seeing some of you on the list. Cheers!
