It is not quiet, but neither is the Orbit, I'd say it's about the same, with
one difference. Because I believe Braille Me refreshes faster, the cells
are noisier, but for less time, see below.
You have to press significantly hard before you get any give, they are not
spongy.
The refresh rate, I'd say, is faster than the Orbit, but this is just
personal observation, I have no means to back it up.
The significant thing that stands out for me with Braille Me over the Orbit,
is that it has a Grade 2 translator which is quite smart. Load a TXT file
and press space with G and magically get Grade 2. Load a BRL or BRF file
and the translator won't attempt to translate it. However, save a BRL or
BRF file as TXT and it will back translate, this is quite smart.
Orbit has no way to translate a text file, so I prefer the Braille Me in
that regard. Example, if you download a text file from Gutenberg, Orbit
will render it in uncontracted Braille, but Braille Me will magically
contract it with one keypress and uncontract it with the same keypress,
Space with G. It takes a while to do it on large files, but it does get
there.
On the other hand, I prefer the Orbit's file management, there is no means
in Braille Me to copy/move files and folders, you have to do this on the
computer.
Also, there are only six dots on Braille Me, not eight, and I prefer to use
eight dot Braille personally. But I do think the Braille Me for the price,
is excellent, bearing in mind that you can only get the Orbit for the same
price if you are a member of RNIB, Braille Me is the same low price for all.

refresh rate of the sells? Does the display have panning buttons and where
are they located? Do the sells have any give in them at all when firmly

I forgot to say, the noise that Josh mentioned when you turn it on/off and
do other things, for the most part is fixed. There is an option called
"Buzzer Off" in settings. The only time this fails is at power on, you
still get the loud beep. I have asked Innovision Tech to fix this, so that
if Buzzer is off, it applies globally, and they say they will.

Unfortunately, it doesn't charge using USB, so you have to use the 19V
charger. I don't like this either, but they claim it fast charges the
battery.
As to the other issues in that thread, most of them are fixed, except the
limitations of capitals not being shown because you only have six dots. But
they are shown if you set your screen reader to contracted Braille. That
is, NVDA will show caps if it does the translation, but if you load a BRF
file as Josh says, then the translation would be in the file, and this is
not a limitation of the Braille Me.
For me personally though, it is better than the Orbit, purely because it has
cursor routing keys, and they work great. And I'm not speaking as a
reseller in that regard, just a user.
Some issues I'd like to see fixed are, you can't navigate the menus using
first letter navigation, so you can only arrow up or down.
You can't say Yes or No to a prompt using letters, you have to use cords,
Backspace+Dot 3 for Yes, and Backspace+Dot 6 for No, these seem odd
combinations.
Other than that, it is working well for me.
I have tried it with NVDA, Android and iOS and it doesn't disappoint.

This is certainly excellent news. What I am not keen on is the fact that it
needs a specific 19V power supply to charge. Can it be charged via USB like
the orbit for convenience? also, some people may find the following thread
interesting. It's a discussion that took place about the braille me on the
NVDA list a few months ago. Hopefully the company have addressed the issues
mentioned or are planning to do so.
