Hello,
OK, thanks for that. Thought it was  something easier than that, I'll leave it
for now.

Hi,

You have to flash a recovery first, then load an alternative ROM onto it.
I'm not going to give a tutorial on how to do it in an Email, you can google
it though.  Google Cyanogen Mod.

All the best

Steve

Hello,
Download kingoroot.apk, put it on the device somehow, run the APK from
explorer on the phone, and wait till it finishes rooting. You will know when
it's done, as it will reboot. Although if rooted, can one upgrade to higher
versions? If so, how, please?

I have the motto-g I thought it would update but it keeps telling me I
am up to date.   the version is something like 4.4.4 I really thought
this would update to the latest and greatest version.   it is the
motto-G first Gen so maybe to old now?

How do I find out what version of Android my phone is using. I've

version.
