I at last got around to giving feedback about my Android iPlayer AD
problems and got this reply within 24 hours. It isn't exactly the
symptom I experience but its a start.

I understand that you're trying to access Killing Eve with Audio Description
on your Android Pixel via the app, but you've only been able to access the
first episode with AD.
At the moment on the app, only the most recent episode will be available with
audio description. This is due to limitations on the app which we hope to
address in future.
In the meantime, there is another way to access all of your AD and Signed
programmes. Just head to our website on your phone browser. If you go to
Categories and then Audio Described, you'll find the full series available.
