By all means, book a slot with SVI, happy to help. On that note, I think SVI
are doing a great job, employing me to help their end users, it's great.
With any device that takes an SD card, it's always best to format it.
However, if you are using the SD card that came with it, this is usually
pre-formatted.

On another note, I am struggling with my Milestone 312 Ace WiFi. Is it
possible that I could book a slot with you on one of the visits to SVI? I
am struggling locating the external SD card and it keeps asking for the
player to be activated. Does the SD card need to be formatted before it
recognises it? I have read the manual but no mention.

No, the firestick doesn't speak audio description, but it does give you the
ability to turn it on and off, so that the programmes that are audio
described will be voiced.
There is a distinction, that's why I tried to explain it. You won't hear AD
in the firestick's voice, you will hear it as it is recorded.
