Hi Gary,

Do I take it we are talking Windows here?

If so, putting aside accessibility issues for the moment, Windows can be set up
to automatically backup all or selected system and data.

HOWEVER, and it's a big however, if you want to backup to an external,
removable, hard drive such that you can take the backup off the premises, there
are pitfalls. I know because I'm right in the middle of sorting such a mess
out right now. I'd hate anyone to have to go through what I've been in the
last 2-3 days.

Let me know if this is the case, and I'll explain further.

George.

Subject: [access-uk] Advice on choice of NAS wanted

Hi all,

Looking for any experience from members on NAS devices/manufacturers whose
software is reasonably accessible with a screen reader.
I am looking to set up the NAS in RAID mode to back up a music server
automatically, so any comments on ones with good backup software would be
appreciated.

Thanks

Gary

Hi George,

I was originally looking at a NAS ripper (www://zoneripper.com) which can be purchased in a 2+2 TB RAID configuration and I was looking at aNAS to back this up along with our laptops.

The zoneripper uses MS Windows home server edition, a product I haven't come across before and I was therefore fairly hopeful that it would be accessible. In their documentation on the site they mention that it can be configured to auto back up itself and other devices on the network.

I have since heard that MS Windows home server is not entirely stable but as I haven't come across it myself I am in two minds as to whether to chance it. Have you any experience of this product?

Thanks

Gary
