Hello.

I have been pondering the idea of wireless doorbells for a while. What put me off was the fact that if you use WiFi and the signal drops, the bell may not necessarily work. There is a person called Mat who tried one and didn't like certain aspects, but found other aspects very useful. Click on the following link for the review, it's quite an interesting take.

I can't say I totally trust the tech yet not to mention where your footage ends up.

cheers,

Mo.

Hello,

I pay it as an annual payment as it is not a prohibitive amount as an annual
fee, especially in view of the total cost of ownership of the full system.
I am now not sure of how much this was.
Others may be able to advise on that.

Hello Henry,

Yes, I use my iPhone to access the Ring ap. It is not the best ap I have come
across but it can be used with practice.

The Pro version does have a motion detector in it which I have set to make a
sort of warble sound.
When the door bell is actually pressed it makes a traditional ding dong sound.
I also have some devices plugged into mains sockets in the house which act as
alternative sound sources so that I do not need to carry my iPhone all of the
time when at home. One of these is also a transformer to supply the doorbell
with power. Otherwise the battery supply in it needs replacing with a new
rechargeable battery from time to time.
Although I do not use another facility, you can also stream the video content
to a smart TV, but with no vision I did not bother with this.

Regards John

Hi John
How accessible is the Ring device and do you use your IPhone to communicate
with the bell?  Also how do you know someone is on your drive?  We are both
totally blind.

Best wishes
Henry

I also have a Ring doorbell.
I like the fact that I know, wherever I might be that there is someone at my
door, or even on my drive.
If the doorbell is then pressed then I can talk to the person at the door and
find out the reason for them calling to my home and making a decision about how
to deal with them.
It gives me a feeling of comfort.

Unlike Steve Nutt I do not have lots of Google kit around the house to
influence my decision, but he has a valid point.

Regards John

Hi,

I know of at least one other lister who has, as I do, a Ring doorbell.

It alerts you, by ringing your phone, as soon as motion is detected at the door.

You can then speak to the visitor, and if you can see, you can also see what's
happening at your door.

Hope this is of use.

All the best,

Hi Folks
Wondering what type of door bells blind people are using for their home
security these days?

Best wishes
