I was surprised when visiting Lloyds Bank to pay in a cheque, and the
assistant took me over to a scanner where I needed to place in my bank card
and then the machine scanned my cheque and credited it to my account, before
gobbling up the cheque and spitting out a receipt. I don't think the machine
was accessible, although in truth I didn't look at it.

Hi All
Has anyone used the new type of cash machines Barclays are bringing
out.
Just been told that the machine lets you choose type of notes.
So one can choose all £5s £10s £20 etc
I am told the machine is a touch screen type but I am not so sure
I have been told right though.

Hi Clive
As far as I know, the Roberts Play is just that.
The lock switch puts the radio into normal or rechargeable battery
mode.
Kind Regards,

Thanks Carol,
I may look for one of these. What is this lock switch, and why does it
have to be in a particular position.
Does anyone actually have the model name for either of these (bush
abc123 or Roberts R9999 or whatever)?
Thanks,
Clive

We have the Roberts Play and have had it now a little over a year.
Jackie did a very good review. We both like it very much. I think we
paid around £50, or so. We purchased it from Wireless for the Blind.
Briefly, you can set 10 pre-sets, 5 for DAB and 5 for FM. You can
either use ordinary alcoline AA batteries, or rechargeable. We think
rechargeable are the best for something like this and we're still on
our first set and charge about once a week. There is a charger with
the radio.
If you decide to go that route, just be careful that you have the lock
switch inside the battery compartment in the right position before
inserting rechargeables. Fortunately, we had someone to check as they
were here at the time it arrived so, worst comes to worst, we could
probably guide you through that one, though it may well be that
Wireless for the Blind would set that up already for you if you asked.
By the way, Jackie's review of this and other radios are on her site
at
http://www.thebrownsplace.info/
Cheers and we hope this might help you.

Hi all,
Last week, someone mentioned a £40 portable, or was it pocket
digital radio available from Argos, which is relatively easy to use
with no useful reading sight. Does anyone have a model number, or more
information about what to look for?
Thanks,
Clive
