Unfortunately, I don't have any numbers that I could pass on to you.

I have heard about the hoovers from a friend of mine who has had one for three years with no issues to report.

I would suggest going to Comet or Currys and have a browse.

Thanks both for your advice.  The machine we have now is a Hotpoint and, I
have to agree with you Kulvinder, it has been most unreliable. I would take
some convincing to buy another of their machines.

I have read that buying two separate machines is safest, but we don't really
have the room right now so I think we may have to go down the combination
route.

I will certainly look at the Hoover idea. Thanks. Is there any particular
model number/s you would recommend?
