Daran. As I understand it, there will in fact be a 64 bit version of XP, although its been delayed. The same applies of course to Andrew's original question; you have to be a 'power user' to want all that processing. Ray Personal emails: Email me at mailto:ray-48@xxxxxxxx ----- Original Message ----- Hi Andrew The next version of windows codenamed Longhorn is not going to be released until around 2007. It will be a true 64 bit operating system unlike XP which only emulates a 64 bit system. I have an Athlon XP 2600 which runs at 1.9GHz with 512MB. I use it for digital & analogue circuit simulation as well as Autocad for rendering 3D scaled drawings of the projects I make. It can easily cope with the computation required. Unless you need to do something really computationally intensive like real time video or very complex CAD then upgrading at the moment is really a waste of money. Most people don't use a quarter of the power of their PC. I believe Microsoft has delayed 64 bit Windows again. Think maybe you have to ask yourself whether you have a need for all that processing power too. It really comes into its own in realtime editing of video and the like. HTH. I understand from there website that this chip runs at 4000. I am interested in getting one of these if they work ok.
