Hi Alex

There are lots of bundled deals you can get on a non-contract basis. My son,
for example, is an O2 customer. He gets texts by the hundred each month if he
tops up his phone by so much. What you have to watch with a lot of these deals
from all networks is that you lose any amount you don't use after 30 days.

Personally, I prefer Vodafone because I like the staff at our branch, and find
the Customer Services team ok if I contact them on the mobile. I started off
with Vodafone when I first got a mobile some years back, but went to O2 last
year for a few months because my son rated their text bundles. But I switched
back as I didn't like some aspects of how they worked. I've never looked back.
Equally, people tell me T-Mobile has an excellent Customer Services team, but
their coverage isn't as good here as Vodafone.

If you are going to do the rounds with all the networks, do a couple at a time.
I say that because you'll end up being completely brain mashed if you try to
remember all their deals (smile).

Have fun.

Jackie

thanks Jackie, I'll take a look. I like my N70 that I've already got and
might just see if I can continue using it with a pay as you talk tarrif.

  Hi Alex

  I am a Pay-As-You-Talk customer with Vodafone because I don't want a
contract. This scenario works well for me, as I buy text bundles because I
text a lot more frequently than I talk on the mobile. With Vodafone, you can
buy 70 texts for £5, 200 for £10, 500 for £15, and 675 for £20. They offer
similar voice packs for minutes too. They offer Any Net and Any Time price
plans, and you can call 2345 free of charge at any time to top up or buy voice
and text bundles.

Hope that gives you an idea of what to expect if you opt for the Vodafone
Pay-As-You-Talk tariffs.

I just might contact you some time this year Steve, as my contract runs out
on my N70 with vodafone. I'd like to continue with them if I can, but they can
be a pain to do business with: I know (large sigh). I think I would like to
try a pay as you talk package next time, I believe it would probably be cheaper
for me.

    Hi Alex,

I should be, I have had a great relationship with Talks for about five
years <Smile>. And I love mobile phones, except the Auasys <Smile>.

    All the best

    Steve

    Hi Steve

I've altered all my mobile numbers in my phone following your suggestion,
thanks very much indeed. It seems you are a mobile phone anorak. Great stuff!

    Hi Jackie,

This is a simple one, and one I recommend everyone should follow. Let me
explain.

My business mobile is 07956334938. OK, now when you add me as a contact,
instead of adding me as 07956334938, add me as +447956334938. Firstly, this
will always get picked up when you receive a text, because when the number
comes through from the mobile carrier, it comes through in that format, and
secondly, it means that you can dial that number from anywhere in the world,
without altering it. For example, when you go abroad, you can still dial that
number. So drop the 0 in your contacts, and add +44 instead. Works every time.

And for those that don't have their punctuation switched on, there is a
plus symbol before the 44. To get that into your contacts, press star twice.

    Hope this helps.

    All the best

    Steve

    Hi Listers

Could someone please answer a quick question for me which I am posting on
behalf of a friend.

He has a Nokia 6600, and it seems that although he has added people to his
contacts book in the usual way, whenever messages arrive in his inbox from
them, TALKS is not telling him their names. He has been into the menu to check
that first names are announced in his preferred order, but he is completely
baffled as to why the texts he gets do not say the names of his recipients.
Frankly I can't work this out either. Does anyone have any ideas please? Is
it possible he has his display set incorrectly or something?

    Jackie
