Brainstorming on this the 3600 is around £219, 3700 is £289, 5600 is £299, so
the only real cheap option on the 3000 series is the 3600. I would say they
would need to drop the price of the 3700 by at least £50 to make it worth while
over the 5600, even then I personally would go for the 5600 LOL.So in my mind
unless the drop of the 3700 gets close to £220, the only 3000 series cpu, that
you would get over the 5600 is the 3600 at below £219.If you go down the route
of a 3600 why not just get a B550 motherboard(like Lats) instead of an x570?
Also there is nothing wrong with a B550 handling the new 5000 series either.
The B550 can handle the 3950, so it will be able to handle the 5950 also. The
bottom line is the upgrade is mainly for VR your system and mine does not need
an upgrade if we were using it on our 1080p monitors, also upgrading to a 3600
would be more than enough. If you brought a 3000 series cpu and waited 3-5
years, the only upgrade to your motherboard would be 5000 series cpu and by
then they will only really be available on the second hand market. So you will
more or likely need a complete upgrade anyway. To put it out there if you are
only looking to upgrade to a 3600, why not go intel and get the i5 10600k(£249)
same 6 cores/12 threads 4.8ghz easy overclocked to 5.1ghz, way better cpu for
gaming compared to the 3600? The MSI intel version of the motherboard is
roughly the same price as the B550 version.I think just wait for the reviews to
come out around November 5th, also intel might drop prices also;).ColinSent

I am almost considering waiting for holiday season and buying a amd 3000 series
dirt cheap. Then in 3 to 5 years getting the 5000 series to upgrade the am4
