[1stPickPCHelp] Going nuts

Well, my Win98 machine crashed and burned last Friday. I knew I needed to reinstall Windows, and I did so, using my Win98 SE CD.

Two things are now happening, that are driving me nuts. First, when I go to shut down, it won't do it. It acts as if I had "Restart" clicked on the shut down screen. I finally gave up and just shut off the power. Second, when I right-click on the on-line icon at the lower right of the screen, and tell it to disconnect, the icon disappears, but Dial Up networking does not disconnect. I have to re-start the computer to disconnect. I did go to the Dial Up Networking screen, right clicked on the connection, to see if "Disconnect" was at the top of the list, but it wasn't -- it said "Connect", thinking that there was no connection current.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks much.
