Dear Marcos,
I have been told by Kenneth, to talk to you regarding the timing system.
I read carefully the proposal and considerations from Kenneth.
I have some questions to you, if you have the time to answer.
Then i will communicate your answers to the local government.
1) As far as it concerns triathlons, is it necessary to take time at the start;
I thought that just pressing the button so that the timer starts is enough.
I mean the starting point of the race near the beach, probably does not
have to have timing system near by. We only need to have a system at the
point athletes enter the transition zone, exiting the transition zone and
finishing the race.
If we design the transition zone wisely, then we can do the work with only one
system.
We have the ability to check athletes at the turning points, using race
volunteers.
We already do that, in our races and we are good at it. It is cost effective
also.
2) The marathon turning points can be checked manually also. Local government
will provide
us plenty of volunteers. And until now, the finishing points for marathon, 5K
and 10K are the same,
under the same arch. We can design 5K and 10K also, so that the start is 5K and
10K away, and the
route is one way, without turning points.
3) My real doubt is this:
Can we have different starting times using only one system;
I mean the marathon will start first. Probably, after some time e.g. 30 or 60
minutes, the 10K
will start and probably the 5k after additional 30 or 60 minutes. Can one
system, take time for 3
different events. Does the software support different starting times;
4) My last questions is about the chips.
We as a triathlon find very logical to buy 100 or 150 chips to cover our needs.
However, the marathon and 5K and 10K races, all together will be approximately
1500 athletes.
Buying 1500 chips will be expensive. Does your system support disposable chips,
just like the RFID system
say it is. (I am not sure, i just read their pdf brochure 1 month ago).
Disposable chips can be cost effective
for so much athletes.
We are very glad that we are talking to you. We are sure you will have an
answer to each question above.
We want to thank you in advance for the time you will spent answering us.

Dear Costas
I have been on to the map of Triathlon and Marathon
My calculation is you will need this for the marathon and this is also more
than enough for the triathlon:
1 system for the start & finish +
2 system for turn points marathon +
1 system turn point 5k run +
1 system turn point 10k
In my world it would be 5 systems
These 5 systems will also be enough for the triathlon.
Then you need the chips for 1500 athletes.
Today I have been talking with MYLAPS and talked with Marcos and another
expert
Mylaps want to talk direct with you regarding the system.
My experience is they want to sell you the best - but the best is expensive.
Therefore if the marathon run course could have less turn point or you cover
them with pen & paper, it is cheaper!
If the government tourism board have the money in the long run it could be to
benefit for the organizers.
Please talk to MyLaps it make all more happy.

Hi Kenneth
I am a Computer Science Graduate with a Master of Science degree.
There are at least 4 other club members, with a degree in Computer Science,
from Greek Universities.
May be it is of no importance, but 90% of our clubs members are
University Graduates. Education level is very high in our club.
Nikos Chatzinikolas, our club founder, and several times Ironman Finisher,
is a very appreciated Paediatrics Doctor in the Island.
So if we get the system, we will train our selfs, and we we will be capable
of operating it. No worries about this.
Thank you very much.

Dear Kenneth,
We had a look at the system you proposed to us.
We wish to thank you for responding to all of our requests.
Today we had a meeting with the vice - governor, Ms Papavasileiou
Marietta
and we delivered her our economic proposal. The proposal included the
cost of buying a timing system as well.
She is very positive and supportive of our future cooperation.
Concerning the timing system
She wishes, to be able to use this timing system not only in the Ocean
Lava Triathlons.
She suggested that the system should be capable of taking the time of
Rhodes Marathon that is held
every April in the city center and has a limit of 1500 Athletes. The
Rhodes Marathon consists not only of
a marathon race, but of a 5K, 10K run also, with different start times.
She wishes to cut down her organising costs also and she sees the timing
system as a great opportunity for this.
In the next few days we will have the official respond, which will be
probably positive. We promised her today,
that we will make attempts, by requesting it from you, that the timing
system will be capable for timing bigger events
like the Marathon also. We think it is a logical request on her behalf,
since all the expenses for the Lava Races will be covered
by her.
If you please forward this email to your partner, Mr Marcos Torrens, and
ask for such a system.
Disposable timing chips are very welcomed, especially for using them in
the Rhodes Marathon.
A relatively increased cost, will probably be no problem.
Concerning the event dates
Ms Papavasileiou, is positive and hot about holding a
1) Olympic Triathlon, in the city centre, this year at October 16th.
2) For 2017, she expressed her wish to hold at least 2 events:
a) An Olympic or Sprint (or both) triathlon in the city centre on
April and
b) A Half Distance on October, as she is capable of securing routes
inside the city centre.
If our economic proposal is accepted (which we will know the next few
days),
we wish to know if it is possible to sign the contract and begin
preparing for
Ocean Lava Rhodes Olympic Triathlon on October 16th 2016.
We are ready to start working on every detail, as soon as possible, if
you are!!!
Thank you very much and we look forward for your response!!!

Dear Kenneth,
Thank you for your time. It was a pleasure to speak to you this morning
and to learn more about your plans and the Ocean Lava Planet_Races.
As we had discussed, MyLaps have different systems that can be used for
Triathlons.
For small events (under 200 participants) we recommend the ProChip
system.
http://www.mylaps.com/en/timing-systems/prochip-timing-system/262 ;
<http://www.mylaps.com/en/timing-systems/prochip-timing-system/262>
Please find attached our proposal for the ProChip system and additional
information.
You will need minimum 2 systems, one for the transition line and one for
the Finish line.
The ideal would be 3 different systems to cover in and out line in
transition line.
Depending on how many decoders you want to buy, we could offer you some
additional discount.
ProChip Portable Decoder
(incl. power supply, detection loop*, GPRS modem)
Portable decoder with an internal battery. Operating time of about 8
hours. Includes a GPRS modem to send data live to MYLAPS server and your
operating software.
