Just got this email, figured I'd pass it along. Looks like a really cool
event, it's a shame I won't be in town for this.

 *Hi Rich:**
*
I'm getting touch to let you know about a just-scheduled talk here at the
Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston *next Thursday, December 20th with
EFF Pioneer Award-winner Drazen Pantic and video artist Cliff Evans*, which
I thought might be of interest to folks involved in Free Culture at BU.

Drazen and Cliff worked together on the show *Empyrean *currently on view in
the gallery here, a video collage made up entirely of images excerpted from
the Internet and projected in five HD channels onto a massive 20 by 7 foot
set of panels in the gallery. The playback of *Empyrean* is made possible
through the use of Drazen's platform open-PLAYER, a completely open source
program for the playback of digital HD streams like this, as well as with
many other applications. The show itself is all about free culture—reusing,
as it does, images from the internet to create a new artistic work. The two
will talk next week about the software and other technological issues
surrounding *Empyrean* as well as the art and its commentary on the
Internet. Evans will also talk with George Fifield, Founder of Boston
Cyberarts, Inc., giving visitors two different perspectives on the show's
use of new media.

Information about the talks is online at
http://gardnermuseum.org/calendar/detail.asp?filtid=813 and attached to this
message as a pdf. *We'd greatly appreciate it if you could post to your
blog, distribute through your email list, or help us get the word out
however else you think would be appropriate and effective. * Feel free to
get in touch with me if you have any questions. I've attached an image, but
am happy to provide others; just get in touch if you'd like anything more.

Thanks for your help, and hope to see you there.

All the best,

Charlotte
