Steve Richter and I covered the area inside the Co. JG loop, plus Stewart Park and much of the Village of Mt. Horeb. Our highlights were: Fox Sparrows in two different locations, Hermit Thrush, Song Sparrow, Eastern Bluebird, Horned Lark, and Lapland Longspur. This morning I was able to add two more count week species: Snow Bunting and Red-Headed Woodpecker. The latter flew right across the front of my (parked) car next to the little oak savannah at the junction of ID and 78, at the West end of Mt. Horeb. The only disappointments were not seeing any Pileated Woodpeckers, RB Nuthatches, or Bald Eagles. But it was our most diverse year ever (of 6 years): 33 species. The total count was our third highest.
