There has been a Sora Rail in and out of a patch of cattails in the
retaining pool at Stricker Pond in northwest Madison.
We've seen it early evenings on the mud flats just past the drain
grate as you walk the path towards Middleton from
Longmeadow Rd. The pond is active with from four to ten Green Herons,
two Great Blue Herons, a few assorted shorebirds,
a frequent Osprey, a few early evening night hawks, and a large
number of young Wood Ducks, one recently seen defending
and successfully swallowing a rather large frog.
