Last winter a female Long-tailed Duck hung out at Milwaukee's Lakeshore State Park for a couple of weeks. I didn't have a camera at the time, but that duck's presence inspired me to get a camera. After I got the camera the duck was a no-show. :-( After my experience last winter, I set a personal goal of taking a decent photo of a Long-tailed Duck. A few weeks ago an immature male turned up in the Discovery World harbor. Unfortunately my camera wasn't working at the time. :-( To make a long story short, that duck inspired me to get my camera in working order. And yesterday I had the good luck to re-find the duck in Lakeshore Sate Park while I was carrying my camera! I had to stand stock still for 35 minutes in a raw blustery wind to get these photos.
