I found what I think is a lesser black-backed gull this morning at 8:00 at the McKinley Marina in Milwaukee. Only thing nagging me on the ID is the lack of yellow legs. They looked more pinkish, comparable to the herring gulls nearby. On the other hand, I see in photos on the internet that the yellow is not nearly as pronounced on some birds as Sibley's illustration would suggest. Anyway, a cool bird, and quite obvious by its dark mantle. Enter the McKinley Marina from the Veterans Park road, first road north, and scan the gulls loafing on the docks.
