The female KING EIDER was seen by Kevin & Darrin Swagel on Saturday along Lake Michigan off Portage Park, about a mile north of the ship canal and Sturgeon Bay lighthouse. Kevin called us at our potluck that evening to report it. They did not have a camera but Darrin is an artist and made a sketch of it. Kevin is filling in the rare bird report. It was in a group of common mergansers. Kevin & Darrin also helped with the Brussels count the next day but had to go back home to work on Monday, to Chicago & Minneapolis. I have not heard anymore about the bird since Saturday evening.
