I had more guesses of female blackpoll, cape may, bay breated and
orange-crowned, but the rest seemed to agree female pine. Still, I guess
I'll leave this one unsolved. Thanks to everyone who shared their input.

Also does anyone know how to tell a southern flying squirrel from a
northern? I understand we are in the overlap zone. Again this comes to our
railing in northern Lincoln Co northeast of Tomahawk. Looked to me to be
about 8-9 inches long (counting the tail). They make a very high pitched
sound which older people apparently cannot hear. Otherwise not sure what
else would help with an ID besides the photo.

We also have chickadees nesting up there in this little bird house.

Wow, I didn't think a bird I happened to see on the driveway up north would
be such a tough ID challenge. 5 responses so far, none of which are the
same.

The responses so far are:

Female cape may warbler
Female blackpoll warbler
Female bay breasted warbler
Immature pine warbler
Tennessee warbler (maybe immature?)

I'll have to take a look at my field guides again and see what I think. I
kind of expected to take the lazy approach and just see what people said,
but apparently it isn't so easy.

Can anyone help me ID this one? Seen up near Tomahawk (N Lincoln Co.).
Flew onto the gutter on the garage, and then down below and began foraging
on the ground near the driveway. Did not hear any sound from it. About
goldfinch size/shape, but maybe a little more elongated. I thought it kind
of looked like a flycatcher, but would the foraging suggest otherwise?

Go here and then click forward to the next 9 images. For each image you can
click view full size (the little magnifying glass) to see it blown up.

Didn't see too much else interesting up there. Loons breeding on the lake
and pileated woodpeckers visiting the feeders but did not get a photo of
them.

Went to Nicolet NF as well. Lots of ticks. Heard WC sparrows there and
flushed two of what I think were woodcocks as I passed through one of the
trails.

Thanks!
