Good morning, During the recent past, there has been a flurry of discussion centered around the long-tailed duck at Lakeshore State Park in downtown Milwaukee, and the Trumpeter Swans & others at Phantom Lake in Mukwonago. While not rare by any means, I also wanted to share the spotting of a beautiful pair (male/female) of Hooded mergansers that have been on the Fox River in downtown Waukesha’s Frame Park since Saturday. Their stay on the Fox River has persisted throughout this week, including yesterday. This bird is growing to become one of my favorites. Something I’ve grown to appreciate over the past year or so is to do more than appear, take a photograph, and then disappear. With patience, I’ve grown to appreciate more of bird behavior, whether it is the courting pair of Red-Bellied Woodpeckers at the park in Mukwonago, or the even more common Canada Goose. I’m sharing some of my recent photos that depict a bit more than simply a nice portrait photo. Enjoy! If you start with the first photo in the list and hit the [Older] button 25 times, you will see the entire group of what I’ve just posted: Or, select the individual links. The last two are off topic.
