Eagle Crest was beautiful yesterday evening, lush, green, and full of life. Dickcissels were new arrivals, and I heard a Le Conte's Sparrow near the pond overlook spot. All the regular species were there, including Savannah and Grasshopper Sparrows, Bobolinks, Western (maybe two this year) and Eastern Meadowlarks, Pheasants, several Orchard Orioles, Sedge Wrens, and a few Yellow-headed Blackbirds at the ponds at the south end. Dummer's pond had single drake Green-winged Teal, Redhead, L. Scaup, and Canvasback, a few Ruddies, and a pair of Wigeon. There are no nesting records hereabouts for Wigeon to my knowledge, so it will be interesting to see if this pair stays to nest.
