Today I participated on the Baraboo Christmas Bird Count. The two
areas I cover are the East Bluff at Devil's Lake State Park, and a
section of the count circle that is in Columbia County (North of the
WI River and SE of Wisconsin Dells). I ended up with 40 species on
the day, and here are some of my highlights from these two areas:

East Bluff, Devil's Lake
   Northern Flicker - 2
   Townsend's Solitaire - 1
   American Robin - 6
   Brown Creeper - 1
   Golden-crowned Kinglet - 2
   Cedar Waxwing - 11
   Purple Finch - 4

Columbia County (Near Lewiston)
   Rough-legged Hawk - 4
   Northern Flicker - 1
   Belted Kingfisher - 1
   Northern Shrike - 2
   Red-breasted Nuthatch - 17
   Eastern Bluebird - 4
   American Robin - 5
   Cedar Waxwing - 7
   Yellow-rumped Warbler - 1
   Purple Finch - 7

I'm not sure if anyone else will be posting results for the Baraboo
CBC, but some nice finds by other parties include:
   Northern Goshawk - 2
   Red-shouldered Hawk - 1
Northern Saw-whet Owl - I think there were a total of between 6 and
9 individuals found
   Long-eared Owl - 1
   Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - I think there were a total of between 2
and 4 individuals found
   Carolina Wren - 1
   Lapland Longspur - 1
   Fox Sparrow - 2
   White-throated Sparrow - 3
