Today I participated on the Baraboo Christmas Bird Count. The two areas I cover are the East Bluff at Devil's Lake State Park, and a section of the count circle that is in Columbia County (North of the WI River and SE of Wisconsin Dells). I ended up with 40 species on the day, and here are some of my highlights from these two areas: East Bluff, Devil's Lake Northern Flicker - 2 Townsend's Solitaire - 1 American Robin - 6 Brown Creeper - 1 Golden-crowned Kinglet - 2 Cedar Waxwing - 11 Purple Finch - 4 Columbia County (Near Lewiston) Rough-legged Hawk - 4 Northern Flicker - 1 Belted Kingfisher - 1 Northern Shrike - 2 Red-breasted Nuthatch - 17 Eastern Bluebird - 4 American Robin - 5 Cedar Waxwing - 7 Yellow-rumped Warbler - 1 Purple Finch - 7 I'm not sure if anyone else will be posting results for the Baraboo CBC, but some nice finds by other parties include: Northern Goshawk - 2 Red-shouldered Hawk - 1 Northern Saw-whet Owl - I think there were a total of between 6 and 9 individuals found Long-eared Owl - 1 Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - I think there were a total of between 2 and 4 individuals found Carolina Wren - 1 Lapland Longspur - 1 Fox Sparrow - 2 White-throated Sparrow - 3 Aaron Holschbach Arena Iowa County #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
