I started this morning east of Freedom. Very quiet except for a few Horned Larks and Kestrels. The mouth of the Fox River in Green Bay was also very quiet. Only things of note were a few White Pelicans and Cormorants, plus a "bunch" of eagles. Algoma had a nice raft of scaup and Redheads to the north of the harbor. About 90 Redheads were in the raft, plus a female BLACK SCOTER was nearby. It was actively feeding. After considerable searching I finally located the imm. male HARLEQUIN DUCK. It was actively feeding along the south breakwall in the harbor, often very tight to the wall. A 2nd yr Glaucous Gull flew by. Kewaunee did not have the Ross's Goose. In fact the number of Canadas was down compared to earlier. This probably is due to ice along the shore and into the lake by the park. The only geese were in the harbor. Also in the harbor were 5 Glaucous and 6 Great Black- backed Gulls. A RED-THROATED LOON was discovered swimming beyond the harbor. It soon took flight, heading south. The Snowy Owl was found in western Kewaunee co on my way back home. It was sitting far out in a field on the north side of the road.
