problem sorted.

the issue was a cominbation of installing the windows 2000 sp4 rollup onto a partition with 500mb left on the system partition. freeing up a gig of space resumed all print services to normal.

It just seems a bit odd that even restarting the spooler service so that it was running fine, no printers were listed, just the add printer wizard. just a capacity issue

Restart your print spooler service. If the service is stopped the
printers do not show up in the Printer Folder.

I have a Citrix Server installed and also have some shared printers on
that server. This was an issue for a while but some updates to the
Citrix software cleared that up.

Could be printer driver issues (not quite compatible) or some other
updates that need to be applied to the server.

chaps, urgent issue.

Rebooted our print server yesterday evening and all seemed ok.
This morning print spooler had crashed. On restarting, all of the
printers installed had disappeared.

any advice on how to retrive/restore or relocate
