Only guessing, but since your are using ADSL with a fixed IP, rather than
NAT, could it be that your firewall is blocking the POP3 110 packets. Maybe
you need to check port 110 is open on your firewall. You can obviously reach
the server by pinging it and make connections by telnetting it.
