i hate when DNS becomes a topic of discussion. Mainly because DNS is such a pain. Right now DNS works fine for both domains, it took a lot of work to get it that way. But I'm combining these two domains and need them to know each other. From a network layout stand point these two domains sit at the same level. Do I need to make one domain a little less than the other? Meaning have xyz.com forward to abc.com which in turns forwards to my ISP. I think this makes since excecpt if abc.com wants to get to xyz, he only knows to forward up not down... confused yet? So if you define server1, you will comunicate with taht server. But if they add servers/clients without letting you know you will not be able to look that server up. You will have to set up a zone transfer. Both are internal domain that sit at the same level and they trust each other. I want to know in DNS what I need to do to let it be known that if you ping computer.xyz.com it will ping it internally. I was thinking about creating a forward lookup zone called xyz.com and adding the subnet into the reverse lookup zone. What do you think?
