Just put a 2nd internal DNS server in the forwarder list and move it to
the first place and modify the time-out
to 1 or 2 sec.
That's it

I have forwarders enabled to go to my ISPs DNS server, so if it doesn't
find in locally it goes out to my ISP for say www.hotmail.com and it
finds the ip there and sends you on your way. I like the idea of
forwarders.

Just enable forwarders on the DNS server. That would do the trick.

This has to do with my trust post but is DNS related:

From domain abc.com I want to access xyz.com. Both are internal domain
that sit at the same level and they trust each other. I want to know in
DNS what I need to do to let it be known that if you ping
computer.xyz.com it will ping it internally. I was thinking about
creating a forward lookup zone called xyz.com and adding the subnet into
the reverse lookup zone. What do you think?
