Well unless I'm mistaken SUBST is only designed to be used with Local Physical Drive mapping issues and NOT UNC paths! SUBST /? Returns the following Associates a path with a drive letter. SUBST [drive1: [drive2:]path] SUBST drive1: /D drive1: Specifies a virtual drive to which you want to assign a path. [drive2:]path Specifies a physical drive and path you want to assign to a virtual drive. /D Deletes a substituted (virtual) drive. Type SUBST with no parameters to display a list of current virtual drives. For UNC you should be using NET USE ! -----Original Message----- From: Guzzo, Mark A (Mark) [mailto:guzzo@xxxxxxxxxx] Sent: 24 May 2005 16:43 To: 'Windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [windows2000] SUBST error Hello all, I have this issue when I (as the Domain Admin) try and run this command: "SUBST X: \\server\shared_out <file:///\\server\shared_out> " The problem is that in explorer the mapped drive has a RED X on it. At first that pointed me to this http://thethin.net/faqs2.cfm?id=294 <http://thethin.net/faqs2.cfm?id=294&category=2&sortby=date> &category=2&sortby=date and this Q269163. But I have a twist to it, I CAN NOT access it. It error out with this "X:\ is not accessible, The filename, directory name, or volume lable syntax is incorrect" This command works fine if I do this "SUBST X: \\The_Local_Server\shared_out <file:///\\The_Local_Server\shared_out> " but that's not using a file server. Can someone PLEASE help :-( --- M A R K G U Z Z O Utility Infrastructure Services Citrix Administrator Lucent Technologies 2601 Lucent Ln, Lisle, IL, 60532-3640 Room: 52N15 guzzo@xxxxxxxxxx <mailto:guzzo@xxxxxxxxxx> w + f: 630.979.9731
