[windows2000] Re: Remote Backups

SSH is a secure protocol. It can be used to tunnel FTP connections (amongst
others), and also has it's own "Secure CoPy" command for transferring files
natively in an SSH session.

There is an implementation of SSH for Windows at
http://sourceforge.net/projects/sshwindows. If you'd like some documents on
how to set it up, I can modify some of the doc's I've written for my own
documentation. Alternatively, there are LOADS of documents online, and
there's an O'Reilley book called "SSH The Secure Shell" which would also
document this.

Hope this helps,

Jon Spriggs

I looked at RoboCopy, but I don't have vpn capability at this time - I would
have to replace all of the remote routers. Only backing up the changed
files would be ideal - just don't know of a secure way over a non-vpn
connection ... maybe there is no other way??
