Indeed, same here. We do have RC2 on several of our machines... but they are working just fine. We're just having problems with some of our Windows XP SP1 boxes now. As a matter of fact, that coworker and I are trying to re-build base images for two different models, and we're encountering problems that weren't there last time we built the image (which was only 6 months ago; blame massive software and network changes). I'm wondering if a recent service pack did something... Drew >>> cruggeri1220@xxxxxxxxxxxxx 07/14/04 01:30PM >>> Thanks Drew, I was going to wipe this clean as soon as I finish doing all the testing I need to do on it...of course...curiosity getting the best of me as to what caused it. A similar problem appeared yesterday to one of my coworkers, except he was using a Windows XP SP1 build... was actually building the box from the ground up. I doubt that the problems are related, but they started occuring to a couple of our machines all of a sudden, right after it happened to his... there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. We reimaged those machines using our default image, and all was well again... very strange. Drew >>> cruggeri1220@xxxxxxxxxxxxx 07/14/04 09:05AM >>> So...just a quick note....still not sure why this is occuring; however, this morning I booted this machine and bee-lined for the coffee maker instead of logging on, leaving it sitting 5 minutes or so before I logged on ......and, a normal logon!!! ...no delay...still not sure what to do about it...something slow in loading...service slow in starting...but thought I would just add that bit of info. Yes....sry ... I did not put that in the 1st e-mail...but I did test both ways.....thanks....btw...I don't really believe anything is too dumb to ask... many problems I bang my head against the wall on turn out to be something "dumb" I forgot about. Hate to ask the silly question . . But might as well. You do have the built-in firewall disabled on this client right? I'm also running SP2 RC2, and I've found everything to be pretty damn perfect! Definitely no slow logons as you describe. I imagine you have made sure that you have the right DNS entries, yeah? For the record, I'm not using DHCP on my machine. And I'm in a 2000 domain, not 2003. Ray at work -----Original Message----- From: windows2000-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:windows2000-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Chris Ruggeri Have SP2( candidate 2) on one machine as a test in our network. I have seen slower logons...almost as if DNS is not properly configured...but it seems as though its just network connectivity is slow... and was wondering if anyone else has seen anything similar or if I need to look elsewhere? 1 wireless and one 10/100NIC - tested with both enabled...and one or the other disabled. DNS, WINS both configured on both NICS. stripped out any non-essential products from loading @ startup. Tested multiple network logons(more than once) with same results. Local logon works fine....also...if you choose just to log off and then back on...everything works just as you would expect. ******************************************************** This Weeks Sponsor StressedPuppy.com Games Feeling stressed out?
