You need to plug into a unmanaged hub i believe.  Of course i'm sure someone
will correct me if I'm wrong.

Beginner at sniffing so a beginner question:
 
As I understand it, if I am using a sniffer on my local PC and the PC is
connected to a switch, it will only see packets/traffic on that segment.
Assuming that is in fact correct, what do I need to sniff across the entire
LAN?
