Under HKLM... there's a hierarchy of keys, under Active Setup, then Installed Components, there's a specific key, that contains a value called stubpath (hint: search for stubpath in your registry). That contains the value of an executable (ie4uinit.exe). Delete the value (ie stubpath), and you I don't think you'll have the problem again. Just for interest, after applying an update, check whether this value is recreated - I don't think it likely will, but you never know.
