So, how about installing DHCP on the second server along with the RIS
server.

It doesn't have to be on the same server but it can be.

I know that doesn't solve the problem of why it is stopping but it could
get it to work reliably.

Cant remove the second NIC - its in an SBS box, its the DMZ part of the
network!
RIS and TFTP have both been disabled on the second server, but I'm still
getting the problem on the dhcp server, unfortunately..

Mark - I've found a DHCP tool, but it appears to fail for me, maybe
because I'm using it on XP - do you know of one that works?
