The only tool I found for renaming active directory is on microsoft.com
under the Windows 2000 Downloads section. However, it only allows the
renaming of Windows 2003 server, and does not work with Windows 2000. Is
there a tool for Windows 2000?

Oh wait you want to restore to different domain name?

Restore system state to new machine then use the active directory domain
name change tool.

Backup the system state and then restore to your new computer. You may have
to do an authoritative restore after that. Let me know if you get that far.

I've painted myself into a corner so to speak, and I need to reinstall =
windows 2000 server giving myself a larger partition...etc.

Is it possible to backup the current AD info such as user data, groups =
etc. Then restore it to a different named Domain, or does everything = have
to match?

I've looked thru the tech pages but can't seem to find an easy answer.

All I'm concerned with is the USER data. I'm not running exchange.

If someone could kick me in the right direction I would appreciate it.
