My advise to you would be if you are already having problems and just want
users to be in your new domain, then rebuild the AD on a new system (or same
system but clean install everything) with your desired domain name and
structure and just migrate the users accounts. This way, at least there is
no risk of you ending up with same problems you were experiencing before.
