Yes, you will be told that updates are available but in time these updates
will install themselves and the warning you refer to where you are notified
is due to the time not being selected in your windows update settings. Also
generally if you are prompted by the security screens to allow or deny an
update install itself it is usually because it is a third party driver and
not specifically Microsoft related.

A few points here Paul.  I appreciate I must go now and follow these
instructions but at present what is happening is that I have to go and
manually install my updates.  I am told updates are ready to be installed
when I turn on the PC from time to time.  Other thing with Windows 7 is that
one has to give permission to allow the updates to take place unlike with
Windows XP.
