I think I may know what happened, or what could have happened.
In Settings, there’s a new thing in iOS13 called TV Provider, which would
like to use your subscription, presumably in the way that Apple TV does for
those who have that. I have Eir Sport, for example, which comes as standard
with the ordinary Eir package ande since I downloaded the app. It has
requested to be my TV Provider – eir TV; and in it, there’s a subscription
option - for easier login, etc., etc. I haven’t given it such ‘permission’
yet, but if I do I think it’ll just be the same as usual, as the eir sport
app works normally for eir subscribers (with no premium content).
So in Eleanor’s case, the RTÉ Player might have been chosen as the TV
Provider. (I haven’t been prompted (as yet, anyway) to make RTÉ Player my TV
Provider on my iPhone.

Hi Eleanor
I have not come across that. I wonder why that is happening as I don’t think
RTE can charge to view online content.

hi everyone, I have a valid TV licence for the Irish Republic, however I do
not appear to be able to watch TV on my iPad or iPhone. they're asking for a
monthly subscription. is this the case for everyone these days?
