hazel, At what point does the crash occur? You mention installing the scanner and Kurzweil 1000. In which order are you installing (or trying to install) them. Install the scanner first, and when that has been completed, install Kurzweil 1000. (you may need help with the installation of the scanner software drivers; and you don't need to install all the stuff on the CD, parts of which are inaccessible anyway.) Oh, you do mean OpticBook 3600, I think? (Not optimum.) Well, that's a good scanner and that works with K1000. I don't have that model, myselff. I think I'd get on the phone to some local help. it is unlikely, in my opinion, that this is a RAM problem. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Hazel Flannigan" <hazel.flannigan@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <vip_students@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, July 28, 2009 2:49 PM Subject: [vip_students] Computer crashing. Hello everyone, I am experiencing difficulty installing Kurzweil 1000 on my system. I have tried to install my scanner to work along-side the programme, however, when I get close to achieving the goal, the computer crashes. I have tried to uninstall some programmes which might lighten the load, but, so far there is still a problem. Is there a way of checking my operating memory capacity? Or do you think it might be my hard drive trying to tell me that it is time to get a new computer? Could I add in more operating memory to lighten the load? Any diagnostic help with this problem would be greatly appreciated. Best wishes, Hazel Flannigan.
