Children to Touch A Truck Day this Saturday! This special event for children
is
scheduled for Saturday, October
2nd in
the
parking lot of the DuBois Mall nearest the Hampton Inn. Glenn O.
Hawbaker
and the Greater DuBois Chamber with support from DuBois Kiwanis Club
offer
children from the surrounding area the opportunity to see, hear,
pretend to
drive, etc. all types of vehicles from all businesses of our region.
Various businesses donate their time and vehicles to allow children to
learn
about vehicle and personal safety during this few hours of
entertainment.
This is a FREE event – we simply ask if the children can bring a can of
food to share with others, it would be appreciated. All About A

contest and will co-sponsor the Annual Red Cross Blood Drive with
Sunny106.
This event will be held on Saturday, October
2nd
in conjunction with the Annual Touch A Truck Day sponsored by Glenn O.

Added Today: Hospital Avenue
Project
Update for Week of Sept. 27
–The following information is an update for PennDOT’s Hospital
Avenue/Dixon Avenue realignment project in DuBois for the week of
Sept. 27.
All work is weather dependent. ·
New
traffic
patterns will continue on South Main Street. The
contractor
will continue working in the center lane on South Main Street.
Traffic
delays are expected. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes. Workers
will
be preparing to place the new concrete pavement. ·
New
traffic
patterns will continue on Dixon Avenue. Dixon Avenue
will
continue to be restricted to one lane between Smithfield Street
and
Hospital Avenue. Dixon Avenue will be one way until further notice. Traffic
will
only be able to travel from Smithfield Street to Hospital
Avenue.
All other traffic will need to follow the signed detour. ·
The
contractor
will be excavating and placing storm-water, drainage pipe on Dixon
Avenue in
the closed lane. ·
Motorists
are
advised to watch for slow moving and stopped vehicles through the
entire work
zone. The overall project
will
re-align Hospital Avenue with Dixon Avenue. Work includes roadway
widening, new traffic signals, and improved access to DRMC. The job is
scheduled to run through late November of this year. You are invited to

Ed Rendell and other partner organizations as they open the doors of
Pennsylvania’s
Elk Country of the PA WILDS for the Grand Opening Ceremony of
the Elk
Country Visitors Center on Wednesday, October
6th at 10:30 am. The center is located in
Benezette.
>From I-80, take Penfield exit and Route 153 North and turn right at
junction
with Route 255. Travel North to Weedville, bear right on Route 555 and
travel
9 miles to Benezette. Turn left on Winslow Hill Rd. and follow signs.
“Dining in the
Dark”

Area Historical Society Spirit of DuBois Lantern Walk
ventures into
one of DuBois’ most historic areas, the Penn State DuBois Campus and
its
neighborhood, Saturday, Oct. 16,
with
tours beginning at 6 p.m. Penn State DuBois, celebrating its 75th
anniversary in 2010, is located on what was originally the property of
City of
DuBois patriarch John DuBois. Admission to the Spirit of DuBois Lantern
Walk is
$5 for adults and $3 for students, with children sixth grade and
younger free
if accompanied by an adult. All proceeds benefit the DuBois Area
Historical

will be the candidates for US Congress: Congressman Glenn
