Hi, Robbie, You may have put your finger on the problem yourself. If the machine was built in Japan, it is possible that it is still set up as a Japanese keyboard or other Japanese setting. go into control Panel and check through the regional settings. see if there is anything there that you can set to Ireland. If this is the case, I would also go and check the date and time settings to see if they are set up for GMT. take care, Gerry Ellis t/a Feel The BenefIT Tel (+353-1) 282-7791 Mob (085) 716-8665 email gerry.ellis@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx If you don't know where you're going, How will you know when you get there? ----- Original Message ----- From: Sandberg, Robert To: vicsireland@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, October 16, 2006 1:18 PM Subject: [vicsireland] Re: ghost in the machine 2 Hi Ed! Don't quite know what you're talking about. What is it that appears in your emails? meanwhile here's one from me. A puzzler alright, one that drove me up the wall over the weekend. Having had my new laptop for a few days only, I was using Note Pad since I hadn't installed Office yet. Repeatedly, the text was displayed backwards. That's to say, while the lines stayed in order, the text in each line ran from right to left. So I had to press ctrl-cursor-left from the end of the line, in order to move forwards through the words. Unless this has anything to do with the fact that the machine was built in Japan, I am utterly clueless as to what causes this phenomenon. Guesses welcome.
