Hi Gerry.

Yes, I am using Windows 7. Had a look at your link andit seems to tell me
what I need to do. Will let the list know how it goes when I get around to
grasping the nettle.

Regards

Paul

Hi,

Are you using Windows 7? Here is how to remove that pesky troublesome Media
Player Version 12.

Hi Donal and Ciaran.

Thanks for the responses. Ciaran, I get the message even if I try to open
Windows Media Player from the desktop. It may have been a file that caused
the initial problem but things seem to have moved on from there. No, there
is no error code coming up.

I've tried doing an sfc scannow from the command prompt, also a system
restore but no joy.

Donal, it looks as if I'll have to try your suggestion. I'll keep you
posted on progress.

Thanks again

Paul

Paul,

It could possibly be something to do with the type of file you're attempting
to open. Maybe try a number of different media files to see if that helps at
all.

Is there an error code the programme throws up when you get the message that
it needs to close?

I remember having trouble removing Windows Media in the past. If I recall
correctly it installs as part of the OS, so it's not as straightforward to
remove as normal applications. This may have changed since though.

Let us know how you get on.

Hi Paul,

About the only thing I can think of here is to go to the Windows Media site
and download the latest version. Then just do a reinstall.

Cheers,

Dónal
