Mark,

I am currently reading the CEN Guide 6 in MS Word format.

Prompted by your query, I installed Word Viewer and the result is shown
below. This page of the guide contains a very complex table which has a
double row of heading, and should be 14 columns wide. The viewer has removed
the table structure almost as if the table were converted to text. This is
making a difficult document even more difficult to read.

I also found that the quick keys do not function in word viewer even though
the insert-z command does activate the JAWS virtual cursor.
Again, this is a significant reduction in usability.

Otherwise, the document reads perfectly clearly from top to bottom.

Here is the way the page looks under the Word viewer. The most difficult
item is the series of dots that appear between each word. These can be
turned off using the JAWS verbosity dialog. I have left them here for your
information.

Subject: [vicsireland] MS word using JAWS

Hello everyone. I wonder if anyone has the experience to answer the
following question. What is it like reading MS Word documents using the free
MS Word Viewer application, compared with reading the same documents using
MS Word itself?

Anyone tried that?

Thanks,
Mark
